Terms of Use

Pscholar is a psychiatry education platform. In short:

  • It is independent — not affiliated with, produced by or endorsed by any examination or licensing body — and every question is written for Pscholar.
  • It is study material, not medical advice. Never use it to decide how to treat a patient.
  • Your score on Pscholar predicts nothing and qualifies you for nothing.
  • Accounts are personal, for doctors and medical students aged 18 or over. One person, one account.
  • Pscholar is in a trial run. You will never be charged without agreeing first.
  • Do not copy, share or redistribute the questions, and do not scrape the site.
  • We publish only aggregated statistics in which no individual can be identified.

These terms are the agreement between you and Pscholar. By creating an account or using Pscholar you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Pscholar.

1. Who we are, and what Pscholar is

Pscholar (pscholar.net) is operated by Pscholar, an independent project based in Saudi Arabia and currently in a trial run ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@pscholar.net.

Pscholar is a psychiatry education platform. It gives you practice questions written for Pscholar, with an explanation and a reference for each one, tools to build your own sets of questions, timed sets, clinical station practice, and a record of how you are doing.

Pscholar is independent. It is not affiliated with, produced by, endorsed by or connected to any examination body, licensing body, university, hospital or training programme. No examination body has reviewed, approved or licensed anything on Pscholar.

Every question on Pscholar is written for Pscholar. We do not reproduce questions from any examination, past paper or third-party question bank. If you believe any item on Pscholar reproduces material from somewhere else, tell us at support@pscholar.net and we will remove it while we investigate.

2. No promise about any examination

Practising on Pscholar does not qualify you for anything and does not predict, guarantee or improve any examination result. Your scores on Pscholar are scores on Pscholar. They are not a mark, a grade, a qualification, or an assessment recognised by any examination body, employer or training programme. Any report you download from Pscholar is a record of your own practice activity, nothing more.

3. Not medical advice

Pscholar is educational material. It is not clinical guidance and not medical advice, for you or for anyone else.

  • Do not use Pscholar to decide how to treat a patient. Questions, options, explanations and references are written to teach and to test reasoning, and they are deliberately simplified.
  • Drug names, doses, thresholds and diagnostic criteria on Pscholar may be out of date at the moment you read them. Always check the current summary of product characteristics, your local formulary, and current guidelines before acting.
  • Nothing on Pscholar creates a doctor–patient relationship, and nothing on it is a second opinion.
  • If you are a patient, or the family of a patient, looking for help: Pscholar is not for you. Speak to your own doctor. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

You remain fully responsible for your own clinical decisions and for your own professional obligations.

4. Who may use Pscholar

You may create an account if all of the following are true:

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You are a doctor or a medical student studying psychiatry.
  • The information you give us when you register, including your name, email address and level, is true.

Pscholar is not for members of the public and is not for anyone under 18.

5. Your account

  • Your account is personal. One person, one account. Do not share your password or let anyone else sit tests as you.
  • Keep your password safe and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
  • You are responsible for everything done through your account.
  • You may delete your account at any time — see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.

6. Price

Pscholar is in a trial run. During it there is no charge, the bank is still growing, and features may change or be withdrawn. We may charge for Pscholar in the future. If we do, we will tell you before any charge applies to you, and you will never be charged without agreeing to it first. Nothing you have already used will become retrospectively payable.

7. What you may not do

You may use Pscholar for your own study. You may not:

  • copy, save, screenshot, transcribe, record, publish, share, sell or redistribute questions, options, explanations, references, stations, checklists or any other Pscholar content, in any medium, to anyone;
  • use Pscholar to build, train or improve any other question bank, course, revision resource, machine-learning model or dataset;
  • use any automated means (scraper, crawler, bot, script, headless browser) to read Pscholar or to extract content from it;
  • attempt to bypass the login, access another user's data, probe or test the security of the site, or interfere with its operation;
  • let anyone who is not entitled to an account use yours, or open an account for someone else;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to obtain the source of any part of Pscholar that is not published as open source;
  • use Pscholar in any way that breaks the law, or that breaches your own professional obligations.

If you break this clause we may suspend or close your account immediately.

8. Our content, and yours

All Pscholar content — questions, options, explanations, references, stations, checklists, text, design, code written for Pscholar, and the Pscholar name and mark — belongs to us or to our licensors and is protected by copyright and other rights. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it for your own study while your account is open. You get nothing else.

Pscholar runs on Moodle, which is open-source software published under the GNU General Public Licence. Nothing here restricts your rights under that licence in respect of Moodle itself.

When you send us something — a problem report on a question, a note, a suggestion, feedback, an email — you keep whatever rights you have in it, and you give us a free, worldwide, perpetual licence to use it to run and improve Pscholar, including to correct and rewrite questions. We will not publish your name alongside it without asking you first.

9. Statistics and research

We measure how questions perform and how people use Pscholar, so that we can fix bad questions, decide what to write next, and show you useful comparisons. This includes aggregated and de-identified statistics — for example the proportion of users who answer a question correctly, or the average score in a topic at a given level.

We may use, publish and present those aggregated and de-identified statistics, including in academic work. We only ever publish figures for groups large enough that no individual can be identified from them, and we never publish your name, email address or any other detail that identifies you.

Anything beyond that — research on individual-level records, or contacting you about a study — needs your separate, explicit consent, which you can give or refuse on the research consent page and withdraw at any time. Refusing it changes nothing about your access to Pscholar. The Privacy Policy explains all of this in detail.

10. Availability

Pscholar is a small service run by a team of two psychiatrists. We try to keep it available and correct, but we do not promise that it will be available at any particular time, that it will be free of errors, or that any question is free of mistakes. We may change, add to, withdraw or stop any part of Pscholar, and we may stop the service entirely. If we plan to close Pscholar we will give you reasonable notice and time to download your own data.

11. Suspending or closing your account

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we close Pscholar. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. You may close your account at any time.

12. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Pscholar is provided "as is". We give no warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law.
  • We are not liable for any examination result, career outcome, clinical decision, patient outcome, lost time, lost data, lost profit or indirect loss arising from your use of Pscholar.
  • Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, while Pscholar charges nothing, is nothing.
  • Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of these terms or from your own clinical practice.

13. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. If a change matters to you, we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you log in, and the previous version stays on record. Continuing to use Pscholar after a change means you accept it.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the competent courts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have jurisdiction. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
